Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre. objective is to provide our patients with state of the art custom foot orthotics, continued support and superior service. We accomplish this by using the latest technology to assess and treat our patients and by using old fashioned customer service to follow-up and maintain a relationship with them.

As a practitioner, you are already aware that foot, ankle, knee, hip and low back problems as well as many musculoskeletal and diabetic foot problems are a result of biomechanical dysfunction.

Footmaxx force plate technology allows Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre to measure the biomechanical function of a patient. Digital patient data obtained in a dynamic, weight-bearing gait and pressure analysis test is interpreted into a gait and pressure analysis report which allows us to objectively determine whether or not the patient would benefit from orthotic therapy. Then, when indicated, this data is used to manufacture custom orthotics for the patient.

Custom orthotics created using this method are more accurate and effective than the traditional method. The traditional method of manufacturing orthotics requires the clinician to make a plaster or foam impression of the foot shape while the foot is static and not bearing any weight. From this mold, a positive model of the foot is prepared and modified according to the instructions of the doctor. The orthotic devices are then custom made from the model using a labor intensive, negative casting technique. Static negative castings of the patient's foot held in a neutral non weight-bearing position are inaccurate as the shape of the foot does not dictate the exact motion of the foot in stride or the distribution of pressure (this latter factor being the key to foot problems). Furthermore, operator error, and inadvertent movements of the patient's feet during the casting process cause large variations. Plaster labs receive casts that are inaccurate 94% of the time.

The chart below highlights the differences between the traditional method and the method Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre practices. The Footmaxx method is clearly a superior and more effective technique for obtaining custom orthotic diagnosis and therapy.

Further to the technical side of supplying patients with custom foot orthotics, Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre has a thorough patient follow-up policy. We offer patients a 40-day money back guarantee and an extensive warranty. Patients who have purchased orthotics immediately become a member of the Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre preferred patient program. This entitles them to a discount on future pairs, a discount for family members and a complimentary re-scan and assessment at 18 months (12 months for children). We also have a special children's program and senior's discounts. The cost of the Scan and Orthotics are often covered under the patient's extended medical insurance.

The patient's original Dynamic Gait Analysis Report is sent to their general practitioner so that it can become a valuable part of their permanent patient records.

Langley Sports & Rehabilitation Centre offers interested local practitioners a complimentary gait analysis and pair of orthotics. We provide practitioners brochures and prescription pads upon request.
